Why I’m Building Mental Health Activity (And Why You Might Want to Join Me)
Why I’m Building Mental Health Activity (And Why You Might Want to Join Me)

I love building cool stuff. That’s why I’m an entrepreneur.

Between 2012 and 2024, I built two startups focused on wellness and mental health awareness. That means I’ve experienced two big success stories and a mountain of failures along the way. I’ve lived through a lot of uncertainty, freedom, challenge, and creativity. When I stepped away from my second startup, it felt like coming home from an epic trip, tired, with a few blisters on my feet, but with a heart full of stories and one clear thought: I want to travel more.

What If Mental Health Education Could Be… Fun?

I’ve always been drawn to the idea of making mental health feel good. Not clinical. Not dry. But engaging. Entertaining, even. Kind of like how physical health isn’t just about medical stuff; we dance, we hike, we play. So I thought: What’s the simplest thing I can make that brings this energy into mental health education? And I mean literally the simplest thing.

My answer: printable games and activities. Tiny tools that help people learn something small but meaningful about their thoughts and emotions and actually enjoy it. Imagine a word search filled with comforting words for the days after a breakup. Or a certificate of achievement for making a bold, courageous decision.

I started building more and more of these and uploading them as ready-to-print products in a digital store. And guess what? In just a few months, I hit 1,000 sales. Printables! In 2025! I know, I know! It surprised me too.

I’m not a social media person. I didn’t run ads. Every buyer found me organically, searching for things like “fun mental health activities.” That tells me I’m not the only one who believes mental health education should be beautiful, playful, and feel good.

Now I’m Building a Toolbox

Then another question came to mind: What if people could build their own personalized mental health tools?

I can’t possibly cover every topic or need with my collection. But what if I could create something that lets teachers, therapists, and creators design their own engaging, feel-good activities? That’s the idea behind my next project: a toolbox for building meaningful, beautiful, human-centered mental health tools.

The first version of the toolbox will help you create resources in four key areas:

  • Mental Health Vocabulary Builders – because understanding thoughts and emotions starts with having the words for them.
  • Purposeful Journaling – journaling that helps with something meaningful.
  • Connection Tools – to help people bond across cultures and experiences, fostering belonging and inclusion.
  • Confidence Builders – tools that recognize progress and help people feel seen, loved, and proud.

And I already have ideas for 20+ more tools. I just need time to build and test them with care.

This Business Is Simple. And That’s the Point.

It aligns perfectly with how I like to create: I’d much rather build a small thing brilliantly than a massive product trying to change the whole world all at once. That doesn’t mean I don’t take it seriously. I bring everything I’ve learned from my past experiences into this work. Because simple doesn’t mean easy. It means focused.

Right now, in April 2025, I’m building this with a small team of three amazing, creative humans. And we’re looking for conversations.
